About the event
This workshop will cover the fundamentals of what defines a genre, including setting, tone, subject, and style with a focus on combining Shakespearean elements with other genres. Students will learn to identify the parts they love most of favorite genres and how to seamlessly mix those pieces to create improvised work that feels fresh and delightful while simultaneously rooted in familiar patterns. By using elements from a range of works in different combinations with Shakespearean tropes we will gain a deeper appreciation of genre. The workshop will be rooted in Shakespeare but the techniques presented will be applicable to any genre study.
