About the event
Join The Department of Fools for our first 6-hour workshop, exploring Mask, Improv and Shakespearean Archetypes! Through a series of exercises derived from the Jacques Lecoq lineage of physical theatre, we will work with actors in exercises that allow them the opportunity to lead with their body, and see how these strong physical choices then inform their voice, character, and state of play. We will then take these techniques and explore some of the Shakespearean Archetypes that were inspired by characters from the traditions of Commedia dell’Arte, a theatre form developed during the Renaissance. Throughout the workshop, we will develop and play with these characters and archetypes through improvisation and games between masked characters and the audience!
